Wellness is boring. Think about it. It’s true. The real PR problem with “wellness care” is that it is just not very sexy. There’s no major turnaround of symptoms. No drama – no excitement – where’s the flashing lights and the high speed trip to the hospital? But that’s exactly the point – there’s nothing that happens … wellness is just continued good health.
Plus, the other problem is to convince people to do this extra stuff – and who’s got time for that? They’re too busy putting out fires! And besides, if we feel good most of the time, what would we have to talk about?? No back pain to compare! But that’s a short-term perspective. Let’s take a longer term look at things.
With Pranic Healing, we have tools, certain practices and techniques, to support wellness. And if we are already feeling pretty good when we use them, for the most part, nothing changes. Just continued good health. We might start to think that all this process isn’t doing anything … until we start to notice how nice it is to get through the winter without the 6-week flu. And how much stronger and more comfortable our body feels. With regular practice, we notice the greater ease that starts to permeate our physical being, our relationships, the steady state of our emotional world … that’s the effect of consistent application of this work.
No time? I hear that a lot. Well, think about this – people who experience a medical emergency like a heart attack don’t have time for that either, but they make time. How about a little preventative maintenance? How lovely it would be if society supported people prioritizing their health and well-being, before the crisis happens. Can you spare 10 minutes a day? Think of wellness care as a short-term investment for a long-term goal.
Compared to the excitement of having to spend time in an ICU with a loved one, the drama of rushing to the barn at midnight to address a choking horse, the thrill of emergency surgery for the dog, maybe boring is good!!
